Join the Dubin Center as we delve into the fascinating history of the U.S. railroad system and its impact on both Southwest Florida and nationwide. The Railroad Museum of South Florida, located in Lakes Regional Park, is home to a wonderful collection of exhibits and artifacts including miniature railroads, dioramas, locomotive tools, lanterns, bells, tracks, and many other treasures. Enjoy the museum’s interactive locomotive simulator which includes an authentic control panel from a decommissioned train. Marvel at the beautifully restored Atlantic Coast Line Locomotive #143, located just outside the railroad museum. Learn all about its history and the purposes that it served.
Come join the optional mile-long miniature train ride around the park and enjoy the miniature village that includes railroad crossings, tunnels, a working windmill, a waterfall, and a number of buildings that depict Southwest Florida as it was in the 1950s. As a special treat, the train and village will be decorated for Halloween! Admission to the Railroad Museum of South Florida is free, though small donations are appreciated. The train ride is $4.00 per person.
*Please note that the miniature train ride has a maximum weight limit of 250 lbs. per person.
